Fuse Hexagon Design Set & Expansion Pack Blog Hop!

Fiskars have added a great new design to their collection of Fuse dies and this one is going to be a hit! Who doesn't love hexagons?!? They are so popular right now, and I've seen them popping up literally all over the place.

  

This dies comes with two letterpress plates but there's also an expansion pack available that gives you 4 extra letterpress designs.

Anyway, here's my project ---

 Monochrome hexagon necklace

I love this necklace! I'm not a jewelry maker but I do love to wear it, so I think that qualifies me to sing this necklace's praises! It's easy and fun to make and with a few simple supplies, you'll be making these up for everyone you know.

Cut 4 hexagons from Shrinky Dink plastic. I bought black and white but it's also available in brown and cream (as well as the traditional frosted plastic).

Lay out your hexagons in the pattern you want your finished necklace to be in.

Use a circle handpunch to punch holes in the sides of the hexagons you're going to join up. You'll also need to punch holes in the left and right hand corners where you want to attach your chain. Remember your holes will shrink with your plastic. This one is 1/8".

Once you've shrunk your plastic (following the manufacturer's guidelines) you'll need to attach the hexagons to each other with single loops of jewelry chain from the craft store.

I added a length of chain to the left and right hand corners that's long enough to fit the necklace over my head without a clasp, but you could always use a fancier method if you know how!
